Cradle Mountain Lodge
Cradle Mountain Lodge, Tasmania, is a wilderness retreat set on the northern edge of the World Heritage listed 131, 920 hectare Cradle Mountain/ Lake St. Clair National Park. The last great temperate wilderness remaining in Australia and one of the last remaining in the world. The winner of numerous awards including State tourism awards for Best Resort and Environmental Tourism, Cradle Mountain Lodge is a world apart. A wilderness retreat with comfortable cabins, cosy log fires, companionable bars and fine food and wines. The wilderness beckons with a range of daily guided activities being offered from walks, four wheel drive tours, Mountain bike tours or a stretch class to set you into the day. Within the Lodge relax with a massage or sauna or learn the latest on Tasmanian Wine & Cheese Wildlife abounds in and around the Lodge including Tasmanian Pademelon (Rufous Wallaby), Bennetts Wallaby, Wombat, Echidna, Eastern Quoll, Tasmanian Devil, Brush Possums and Platypus.
The temperate
rainforests around the Lodge contain many direct Gondwanan descendants including myrtle beech, sassafras, fagus beech, King Billy pine, pencil pine and celery top pine.
The lodge itself has an ambience of warmth and security that welcomes you to every room. Something here returns you to those childhood days when it just felt good to be indoors. Perhaps it's the glow of the open fires that keeps drawing you back. Or perhaps the mood calls for a less formal meal and a country pub atmosphere. That leads you to the Tavern Bar, popular with the locals and a great place to share your adventures with new friends.
