Discover tropical rainforest and get an up-close view of wildlife in two-person canoes on this relaxing day tour. Travel south through the Sugar Cane fields toward the Mulgrave River. A river flowing through pristine rainforest with towering strangler figs, jungle vines, rare ferns, and home to a variety of wildlife. Your guide gives detailed instruction on safety, paddling and manoeuvring your canoe with some time to practise our new found techniques before setting off. The river's flow allows you to relax and see a great variety of birds including kookaburras, kingfishers, parrots, herons and orioles. A picnic lunch is served on the banks of the river with plenty of time for swimming, maybe you will see a tortoise, eel, lizard, wallaby or a host of multi-coloured butterflies. The river has some faster sections and small rapids that add to the excitement of the day before returning to Cairns late afternoon. (L)
